Local Priorities Drug dealing/ drug use Concern Update - NOS Gas

I wanted to provide an update regarding drug dealing / drug use, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

Late Night joint patrols were conducted with colleagues from our sister wards Limehouse and Poplar SNT's

During the shift we encountered one male consuming NOS gas (Nitrous Oxide) in a parked up vehicle. When spoken to it became apparent he had 8 large canisters in the vehicle and upon further investigation he also had nearly £5,000 in cash. The NOS gas canisters were seized and the male was arrested for Possession with Intent to Supply Class C drugs, the investigation in ongoing

Later on in the same shift we were alerted to another vehicle by a member of public where a passenger was consuming NOS gas. They were spoken to and a further 9 large canisters of NOS gas were seized. 2 community resolutions warnings were given out ( they admitted to the use of NOS gas and agreed not to consume it in the future), if the 2 people are caught with NOS gas again there will be more serious consequences for them

We are committed to tackling drug dealing wherever we find it. We will keep you updated on our efforts to do this in your area, but if you have any concerns or evidence, it is important you report this as soon as possible.

If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.met.police.uk/, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101.

Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org
